General information

Luxi Bia is not a boutique hotel, but a small village from the 1800’s that is being actively and lovingly restored with an eye to historical accuracy. The village is under renovation but still includes some ruins abandoned in the 1970’s. In other structures, two families live on the property full-time. It is an ongoing project of regeneration and revitalization; there may be improvements and landscaping on site during your stay.

Each apartment has all necessary comforts (kitchens, private outdoor space, heating and cooling, WiFi). There are no TVs and no swimming pool, as well as no paved roads on the property. A stay at Luxi Bia allows you to live in a fully natural environment, with the luxuries of silence, peace and darkness. It is an opportunity to enjoy rural Sardinian life in a meticulously designed contemporary setting. No domestic animals. No smoking indoors. A car is highly recommended. Check in is from 3 pm to 8 pm. Check out is at 11 am.

While families are welcome at Luxi Bia, the property and the houses have not been designed with small children in mind. The property is very natural, with stone walls and steps. The houses are furnished with artisan works, including design pieces from our collection, as well as vintage finds. They require appropriate treatment and attention. We reserve the right to invoice any damages incurred.

FAQ

Do you serve breakfast or meals?

Every house has its own full kitchen, with the basics (salt, oil, pepper, sugar). We also have a selection of local products available for purchase that include natural wines, antipasti, jams, single-source coffee and bottles of our own olive oil. There is no breakfast service; you can however order a breakfast basket (coffee, fruit, fresh bread, eggs, butter and whatever else is in season) that will be in your house when you arrive.

Is there a pool?

There is no pool at Luxi Bia; the coast is a twenty minute drive through the countryside. You can explore multiple beaches from the south through the southwest of the island – from long sandy stretches to tide pools and cliffs. Our guide has plenty of information on all of the surrounding coastline.

How far is Luxi Bia from the forest?

The property is situated in the foothills of the Gutturu Mannu, the largest Mediterranean forest in Europe. As such, there are endless hiking areas within a ten minute radius. There are also natural pools in the mountains, though they tend to dry up in May or June (depending on that year’s rains).

What is the closest airport? The closest food shops?

The Cagliari Elmas airport is a one hour drive away and is right on the outskirts of the capital city.
Once at Luxi Bia, the closest town is Santadi, which is only 3 km away. There are numerous bakeries, butcher shops, supermarkets and green grocers, as well as a few good restaurants, in town.

Is there potable water on site?

Yes, the water in the houses is potable, and we also provide a pitcher with a filter, so you can avoid filling up with plastic bottles.

Are the houses open in the winter?

Yes, the houses are designed to be enjoyed all year round. Each house has a wood-burning stove or a fireplace, as well as heat pumps in every room.
