For ten years, after we bought this property, but before we transformed it into Luxi Bia, we ran a small design company called Pretziada. Pretziada, which means precious in Sardinian, was a collective effort – we invited designers to come stay with us and ran short but intense, tailor-made residencies. They would visit shepherds in the mountains, swim in natural springs, visit archeological sites and museums, and generally learn about both the long history and the complicated present of the island.

After a week of traveling through Sardinia with us, they would return home and design an object as an homage to the territory. We would find a local artisan to produce the piece, and would sell it exclusively through our network of stockists located from Los Angeles to Munich to Tokyo. After ten years of beautiful interactions on all sides and inspiring collaborations, we decided to close the company in 2026 to focus more fully on our work within the territory. Like with any labor of love, many connections remain from this unique project. And Luxi Bia, both practically and metaphysically, would never have had the same depth or singularity without the groundwork that was laid with Pretziada.

As you spend your time in these homes, know that the objects surrounding you were the product of many minds and many hands at work. They are contemporary pieces of design, but are also ruminations on a millennial culture that unites the entire Mediterranean. They continue, with their existence, to bring Sardinia and its histories to life.
